Top Haircare, Bodycare & Skincare of 2021
Best Shampoo & Conditioner | Kristen Ess The One Signature
This shampoo and conditioner has been a strong favorite since 2018 believe when I first bought it. I did just switched it up but overall for the year I was loving this. It does well for my hair and it’s been growing longer and getting stronger so I’m owing it to this stuff.
Best Dry Shampoo | Living Proof Perfect Hair Day
I loved a dry shampoo during the year and it goes to this one. I see why it is worth the hype and though it is a bit pricey it is worth it for me. I love how it soaks up any grease in my hair and I can definitely see the difference when I have no wash days.
Best Body Wash | Soap & Glory Clarifying & Creamy
Again this body wash has been a strong favorite since 2018 too when I first bought it. I even repurchased it recently when it was on sale so I’m all stocked up. I’m thinking this is just an all time favorite by now. I love the scent and it leaves my skin soft and clean. So what else can you want with a body wash
Best Cleansing Balm | Elf Holy Hydration Makeup Melting
This is a new favorite. I use this to take off my makeup in the evenings and it gets rid of it quite easily. I am clearly loving this as I am running out of it. It was pretty affordable at $10 so quite a good price for a melting makeup balm. I love the stuff and highly recommend it.
Best Facial Wash | CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
For face wash the best goes to this one. I bought the travel size to try out last year and ended up buying the big size when I ran out. It is really great and it was a highly recommend product. It’s really gentle and a great everyday face wash when I need it as a daily cleanser or a double cleanse with the makeup balm.
Best Eye Cream | Makeup Revolution Vitamin C
The eye cream I am using daily is this one and I like it. The formula is amazing and it does a great job. It is pretty affordable and can see a difference when using it. I will keep using it and it’s just nice plus it has vitamin c which I hear is great in skincare.
Best Toner | Pixi Glow Tonic
Lastly we have my favorite toner which used to be an old favorite but I repicked it up last year and forgot why I stopped using it in the first place. It does a good job and I love how it makes my skin feel afterwards. I’m almost out again so I’m totally repurchasing this and maybe getting a bigger size.
Top Makeup Tools of 2021
Best Makeup Brush | Real Techniques
That goes to the whole line of Real Techniques. I picked up a few of the brushes a few years ago and since then I’ve built up my collection. Now most of my brushes are from this brand and for the price and quality it has to win best makeup brush for me.
Best Makeup Sponge | Elf Cosmetics
For makeup sponges I have to give it up for the ones I bought at Elf this year. They were affordable and great to blend my makeup with. I use the total face sponge for my overall face and the concealer sponge for concealer of course and then liquid contour and blush.
Best Primers | Wet N Wild Hydrating Serum // NYX Marsh Mellow // Elf Poreless Putty Primer
I have 3 primers but the first is more skincare and this goes on before I do my makeup every time. I’m not sure what it does doubling up my primer but it works so I’m keeping up my routine. I then have two other primers. The second is an everyday primer when I don’t really need to go anywhere and I’m just shooting photos or videos at home. I love the scent of this and how it feels on the skin. Last primer is when I need an all day lasting and full coverage primer to really hide my pores. This stuff is amazing and so worth the hype. It makes my base so flawless and looks inc
Best CC Cream & Foundation | Elf CC Cream in Light 240 W // Milani 2 in 1 in Medium Beige
Just like primers I have two foundations. Well the first is a CC cream and I use this when I don’t want a full base and just a little coverage for the day. I love this one by Elf and again worth the hype it had. It looks amazing on and has incredible coverage if you need it. I use it lightly and it still manages to cover and blend in seamlessly. My foundation goes to the Milani one and this is an exact color match for me and blends in so nicely. This withthe putty primer gives me such a flawless base that looks amazing and can’t get enough of this combo.
Best Concealers | Wet n Wild Incognito in Medium Honey // Makeup Revolution Eye Bright in Medium
The concealers had two as well. So my go to is this one by Wet n Wild. It does the job, nice color and super blendable. Then when I need more coverage for the day I go in with the eye bright on top and it hides my dark undereye circles quite well.
Best Undereye Concealer | Milani Supercharged Brightening Tint in Peach
I use this product on top of my concealer before my foundation and after primer. Ever since I discovered this product it has not left my makeup routine. I use this on it’s own for a no makeup kind of look day or under my full makeup and it does help hide my undereye circles which is what I want in a product. Most favorite and highly recommended.
Best Setting Spray | Milani Make It Last
Last for base this has been my go to setting spray and it does make my makeup stay. I am almost out of this too so that’s how I judged a lot of my favorites. I like this stuff plus doesn’t have a strong scent which is good as I hate when that happens.
Best Contour | Wet n Wild Contouring Palette in Dulce De Leche // Makeup Rev in Deep Caramel
I have two contour products. The palette I was just getting into last year and liked it but I full blown love it this year and use both the shades. The dark to contour with and the banana colored shade to set my undereyes with and my t-zone. Before that though I use this concealer in the deep caramel shade as a liquid contour and it is amazing and I love it.
Best Liquid Blush | Rare Beauty Soft Pinch in Bliss
This is my first time using a liquid blush and I love it. I got it as a birthday present to myself and have been using it ever since. I love the shade I picked out and a little goes a long way. It’s super pretty and blendable. It is a bit pricey but so worth the price for me.
Best Blush | Elf Bite Size Deo in Lychee, Watermelon & Spiced Apple
Best Highlight | Wet n Wild Loose Highlight Pigment in I’m So Lit
If I wanted a very bright highlight for a more glam look than I used this loose pigment. It’s a bit messy but so worth it to get a glowy and dewy shine for highlight. I loved this last year as well but it is so good for an extra look and it lasts a long time.
Best Eyeshadow Base | Makeup Revolution Prime & Lock
Now for eyeshadow base which is a product I tend to forget about I didn’t really forget and have a favorite this year. I love the style of this one and the applicator is quite nice. It blends in easily and when I have fun and bright colors I use than this is a great base that extends the wear and makes them more pigmented. I got this part of a sale when I bought other products and it has come in handy.
Best Eyeshadow Palette | Colourpop Going Coconuts
For the number one eyeshadow palette I used about 90% of the year it goes to this one. I mean I did use three of the shades the most as an everyday eye look but it was such a good neutral eyeshadow palette and the mirror made it travel friendly for my over last summer. I grabbed for this palette out of all the ones I used so it had to get the award.
Best Mascara | Essence Lash Princess False Effect
This was my go to mascara of the year and it was so hyped on Tiktok and I tried it and I really like it to. Another product worth the hype it was getting. I use it as my everyday mascara and it does wonders for my lashes. I love that it doesn’t clumps and just goes on and extends my lashes.
Best Eyeliner | Maybelline Hyper Easy in Pitch Black
If I wore eyeliner this year than I used this one. I love a Maybelline liquid liner and always have good luck ith them. It was pretty affordable and I love the pigmentation of it. I like that it is a felt tip and it is easy for me to draw on my winged liner.
Best Brow Pencil | Morphe Mirco Brow in Cold Brew
I switched up my brow pencil this year and it goes to this one. I don’t see differences and just pick up the cheapest option and this was what was avainlbe. I do prefer the color of this and it matches my brows a lot better than others. It was the first Morphe product I tried and really like it.
Best Brow Gel | Essence Make Me Brow in Browny Brows
This has been my go to brow gel. I went with a brown color this year opposed to a clear one I always went for. I sometimes just use this on it’s own to give my brows definition and it does a great job plus you cannot beat the price of this.
Best Lip Balm | Wet n Wild Sleeping Mask in Lavender
The best lip balm for me goes to this one. I apply every night ebfore bed and I can totally see a difference when using this. It goes on nicely and leaves my lip so smooth and not chapped. I love this lip balm and cannot recomeend it enough if you have dry chapped lips.
Best Lip Scrub | Elf Lip Exfoliator in Brown Sugar
Again this carried over for my favorites from last year. I just love how this one is made and it’s so easy to use. It helps take the dead skin off my lips and is great when I’m wearing matte lips. I don’t see myself not loving this.
Best Lip Liners | LA Girl Perfect Precision in Sugar & Spice
This lip liner was the best. It’s the first one that doesn’t drag, has the best pigmentation and the color is perfect for any of my nude lipsticks. It has been underneath all the lip colors I used in 2021. I have a few other colors which I love but this one has to be my favorite.
Best Lipsticks | Essence Matte Lip in Loyal // Makeup Revolution Satin Kiss in Chauffer
I have two favorite lipsticks. I think I found my perfect nude shade and it goes to the first one. It’s so pretty and so affordable plus it’s drugstore. I love the color and it matches my skin tone perfectly and looks goo on me. I’m so happy I found this. The nest one is a more pink mauve and not as nude as the first. It still is pretty and if you need a dupe for the CT Pillowtalk than this is the one. It’s a great formula and super nice in color.
Best Liquid Lipsticks | NYX Lip XXL in Undressed // NYX Shine Loud in Lead Everything // Maybelline Super Stay in Dancer
I have three favorite liquid lipsticks. I couldn’t pick just one but in three of the shades I wear quite a bit. I choose a nude, hot pink and red as those are my favorite colors to wear. The first is my go to nude color and it looks great with the lip liner. I love this nude shade and it is a great everyday color. Next was my birthday lip color or whenever I needed a hot pink lip. It is again from NYX and they have some great lip options. Last was my go to red two years in a row now. I love this shade and if you see me with a red lip last year than it was definitely this. I love the formula and it stays on for so long even with a mask on. All three of these did and that’s a reason I liked them as I didn’t have to reapply when it smudged under a face mask.
