My 2020 New Year Goals & Intentions
Happy New Year! And happy 2020! Welcome to a new decade. This will mean that I have been around for almost 3 decades now which is insane. I swear it was the early 2000’s a second ago. Hello there, welcome to my blog! I guess I can do a bit of an introduction about myself before we dive in to today’s blog post about my 2020 New Year goals & intentions. My name is Jacquelyn or I like to be called Jackie. I’m 26 years old and turning 27 in April. My favorite color is hot pink and I love wearing bows in my hair and have a bow obsession pretty much. I have lived in LA for over a year now after living in Manila for 10 years. That’s a little snippet about me and there’s a lot more that you may discover from my blog if you keep reading. I hope you stay and enjoy reading my 2020 New Year goals & intentions!
So I have listed my resolutions and goals here on my blog for several years now. Some years I cross them all off and others I didn’t get around to them. I like visually seeing what I want to achieve and it pushes me to make an effort to show you something the next year. I always start off with what I set out for myself the previous year and give you a bit of a summary about that before moving on and listing my year ahead and what I want to achieve. Here’s the list of what I had wanted to achieve in 2019:
2019 Goals & Resolutions
Travel to London
Buy a Macbook
Find love
Be Active and get in better shape
Meal Plan and eat better
Master how to apply lashes
Keep My Closet OrganizedGet a brand collaboration
Find a photographer and a blogger friend in LA
Be invited to more LA events or maybe a press trip
Grow my Youtube channel to 1,000 subscribers & Twitter and Instagram to 5,000 followers
Be more active on Instastories
In 2018, I accomplished everything on my resolutions list and this year I only completed half. I think I had such a huge expectation for this year and towards the middle I fell out of it. I didn’t make an effort so of course it didn’t come true. I didn’t put much effort into them unlike the previous year. Honestly, I thought I would feel bad about it but I’m not going to let myself be down about this. I accomplished some and that’s all that matters. If I didn’t accomplish anything I had my mind on then I could really blame myself. It’s a journey and I need to accept I won’t get everything done or do everything I had set out for. I just have to not slack off like I did and work on it.
I’m going to separate this years goals into two categories instead of doing it the way I always have done it. I’m going to list my realistic goals that I know and will achieve this year in 2020. Then I want to add my unrealistic goals that I know I can work on and drive myself to doing and if I don’t get it done this year then it will be an ongoing goal.
The quote I’m going with this year is: “Stop Dreaming Aimlessly & Start Doing What Matters But Don’t Forget To Dream Big.”
By that mean to stop having random dreams you can’t get done and start doing the ones that are important. I also don’t want to stop dreaming altogether because I do want some of my dreams to come true too.
Realistic Goals
Declutter my storage unit & cut it in half
My parents and I have a storage unit in a town where we used to live which is about a 2 hour drive from where I now live. We have been paying for this storage unit for 10 years now that holds all our household stuff. I mean a lot. It is huge and filled with so many things. For years, my dad and I have been saying we want to cut it down and get rid of half the stuff so this year I am finally going to do something about it. I’m going to stop talking about it and start actually making progress at getting it down. I so want to keep the sentimental value items and memories but if I don’t need it then it is going. I put this one first because I really need to do something about it.
Decorate my home & find furniture I love
Since I did move into a bigger house last year. I want to start decorating it to my liking and find my furniture style and pieces I love. I love how it looked for Christmas but I need to learn how to decorate it for most of the year. I want to find my inner interior stylist and play around and get my house of dreams to looking Pinterest worthy or close to it.
Learn new recipes & try baking from scratch
Now that my house has a bigger kitchen, I want to learn to cook more things instead of simple meals I already know and get tired of. As you saw in my what I got for Christmas post here, I got a Crockpot and want to try that out. I’m not a big fan of cooking and find it boring sometimes so hopefully I’ll learn new things and learn how to love it too. Another is to learn to bake from scratch. I always by ready made cookie dough and brownie mix in a box but I want to actually put ingredients in a bowl and bake that way. Basically I want 2020 to be about learning new things in the kitchen.
Be more financially smart & pay back my credit card
More savey and less spendy. That’s what I want to do. I need to stop buying this or that because like it and really start learning what I need instead of what I want. So hopefully I can learn to be more responsible with money. I’m pretty good with saving money so that’s not a problem its the spending it on things and then regretting the purchase. Plus I want to start paying of my credit card and get it about 50% paid off if I can. I set it to half because I don’t want to make it too tough of a goal.
Start journaling & write more
I want to start writing more. I have been so intrigued by bullet journals and planners that maybe this year will be my year and I will give it a go. I miss writing on a piece of paper and whenever I do my handwriting is a mess so maybe improve on that too while I’m at it.
Unrealistic Goals
Travel to London
I’m putting this back on my list as I really want to go. I still would love to go around Christmas like I did with New York as I find that time to be so magical and fun. If I can’t make it in 2020 then one day I will strive to make it to London.
Write a book
I kind of had this one before but I wanted to publish a short story I wrote years ago but never finished editing it enough to see the public. I have problems with finishing books. I have so many ideas and write them but I get distracted and hardly go back. So whenever I have an urge to write then I’m going to sit down and do it. I usually tell myself that I will wait for a writing month like Nanowrimo or Camp Nano in April or July and by the time it comes around I lose my creativity and don’t want to write. Sometimes they help and sometimes they don’t. So this year if I want to write a chapter or more then I’m going to stop what I am doing and write it.
Own a designer bag
This has always been a dream of mine. I’m a big fan of bags and I just feel like I need to own a designer bag in my lifetime. I already know which one I want and I will work hard to finally own one and everyday I can look at it and be proud that I did it.
Hair accessory line
This has been on my goals list for a while. I first came up with it maybe 3 or 4 years ago and I never put it out there. I mean the originally idea was a bow line or a collaboration with a bow brand. Then I got to thinking and wanted a whole hair accessory line. After my fave blogger got to do one then it really inspired me to one day achieve the same. I don’t know if I would like to create my own business or do a collaboration but one day in the future I would like to create my own hair accessory line.
Get another degree
I have been toying with the idea of going to pharmacy school and getting a doctrine in pharmacy. I have actually considered it and would like to change careers. If you didn’t already know I have a bachelor’s degree in communication. I’ve been doing some research and really think I want to do it. I have been fascinated by it for a few years and thought about it but 2019 really showed signs for me to go pursue it. If not a pharmacy degree then I’d like to get a masters but if I was to go back to school I’d like to be a pharmacist.
These seem realistic I know and not too unrealistic. I want to be more positive and say these are just longer term goals I want to put out there into the future.
My Intentions For The Decade
Stop wondering if I’m good enough in someone else’s eyes
Do more of what makes me happy
Say yes to opportunities that come my way even if they scare me
Let go of things I can’t control
Start doing instead of putting things off for the right time
These above are mantras I want to do more of in this decade. I want to start believing more and hopefully by the end of the decade I can say that I did all of these.
Here is a little look at my outfit I wore! I stayed home again so nothing too special. I can’t really link anything but my bodysuit here and my 2020 headband here. The rest of my outfit is old and the decorations I got at the 88 Cent Store.
Those were my 2020 New Year goals & intentions! I love writing this blog post and then looking back on it in a years time. If you are wondering about my blog goals because I usually include them in this post. Well I decided to change up my format this year as I was getting bored of it and now my blogging goals will have a dedicated post. I am working on it now so hopefully by Friday it will be up. I wanted to do a more detailed version so I thought it deserved it’s own post. So I hope you got inspired by my 2020 New Year goals & intentions! Let me know what yours are for the year or the decade! Thanks for reading! xo
Congrats on your achievements in 2019 and here’s to an even better 2020 and new decade! Love your intention of not letting fear get in your way and writing a book! You can absolutely do it!!
