What To Do When You’re Uninspired To Blog
Happy Monday! Today I thought it would be helpful to share what to do when you’re uninspired to blog. I recently just got out of one and you could tell I wasn’t really active on here. I missed it so much and needed to get back to it so these are a few things that helped me. I hope it would help someone out of their creative rut or writers block. I think I had both so it was extra hard to get myself going again. I have to admit it was nice to rethink things and see what content I wanted to focus on but once it started to come back I just couldn’t write. I found these things really helped me come back to it so here is what to do when you’re uninspired to blog and how to overcome it!
Take a break
Firstly, this helped a lot. I’ve been blogging for 8 years now and sometimes you just get burnt out. I have written more than 1,000 posts so its natural for me to feel like I’ve done it all. Sometimes you just need to step back for a moment and rethink things. That’s what I did and it did make me realize how much I depended and needed to blog in my life. I just needed to take a break and it’s okay. I was worried I would lose my following and lose my way with blogging but I didn’t. So just take a mini or a long break because when you come back to it then it will be worth it.
Fresh new blog design
If you couldn’t tell, fashionxfairytale got a blog theme makeover a month ago. I didn’t really say anything as it wasn’t that big but surprise. Take a look around at my shiny new blog design. It has all the elements I was looking for and it made me want to blog again. Maybe a new design will inspire you and get your creativity back. I was away for almost a month so I wanted to come back to something new and pretty and that’s what it gave me. I get tired of blog designs quickly so changing it out every so often was the push for me. I still don’t think this is my permanent design and I have been looking and writing down my design ideas on what I want in my ultimate blog design.
Find something that sparks creativity
For me that was shooting on my DSLR again. I loved how my pictures were turning out and the quality. Honestly, for the past year I’ve been shooting on my iPhone X because it was convenient. My roommate who was taking pictures for me was hopeless with a camera and even though I tried to teach her to use my Nikon and my new 50mm lens she still could not get it so iPhone was much easier. Also it was so nice to upload the photos straight to Lightroom Mobile and edit there instead of taking my laptop out and taking forever to edit pictures. I also found some presets I like and that too inspired me and I loved how my pictures were looking. I can definitely see the difference between my photos now and with my new blog design it does show. So my pictures were what sparked the creativity and to play around with my photography again. Find that for yourself and it will bring back your spark.
Browse the trends and what’s popular
I spent hours on Bloglovin’ and on Pinterest just looking to see the trends and what everyone has been loving. I fell out of touch with things so to get back I got inspiration from what was popular. I got some inspo from of my fave bloggers and see what I could do differently then what I previously did. I looked at the fashion trends to see if I liked any and could rock them. So find places you get inspiration from and go from there. I wrote things down on my list app and when I got my mojo back it was easier to see what I could write and how I can begin with that step and get a full blog post out of it. Is it strange that this was a topic that i wrote down but didn’t think I would use as I was so lost and unmotivated and now I wrote so much!
Set time for each task
Another reason I was uninspired to blog was because I was so busy. I couldn’t manage my time with my Instagram, Instastories, Twitter, Youtube and my blog. It was all too much to handle so my blog was put on the back burner which I hated as blogging was my first love and I felt like I was neglecting it. So I finally found a good schedule and I’ve learned to manage my time better. It’s been working out and I feel like I get everything I need to get done. So my suggestion is figure out when you blog best. Mine is in the early evening or at night so I get my other stuff done in the afternoon and then I like relaxing with my laptop and writing the blog post I have planned. Right now I am writing content a week in advance and planning 2 weeks in advance. I’ve been on this schedule for almost 2 weeks now and it is working well for me. So rearrange your schedule that works best for you and set time to blog.
Force yourself to write
Last step is to just sit your butt down in front of your computer screen and write. This is what I did and now I can’t stop writing. I had a few blog posts lined up in my drafts but I had no motivation to write them and writer’s block was taking over. So one afternoon, I got my laptop out and just forced myself to write. I made myself not get up until I wrote it and you know what? It worked for me. I finally feel like I got my mojo back and until that moment I haven’t stopped writing. I’ve written at least 15 blog posts and planned out so many. So if you are like me and need to write something but nothing is coming out then I highly suggest forcing yourself. Just get the words out even if it’s just something random. It helps and make sure you give yourself a reward and punishment if you didn’t complete what you need to.
Bonus tip: Put on your fave outfit or try a new style
If your a fashion blogger like me then putting on your favorite outfit and go out there and take some pictures. Also try something new and play with a different style. This outfit I’m wearing is a bit different for me and I styled it differently then I would. It is still me but it is a little different then my usually look I feel like. So maybe change things up with what you are wearing and then you could write about that. I was in a style rut and didn’t see any clothes I liked for a while but the seasons are changing and some cute stuff has come out so I am even out of that funk with styling clothes so a great bonus tip for you.
Taking a step back and doing exactly what I recommend is what helped me. It’s a 100% true and I couldn’t be happier with coming back. The steps I took have really showed me how good blogging is. I was a little discouraged about everything and thought about giving it up. I’m glad I didn’t because now I can see the benefits of my hard work I’ve been putting back into my blog. It’s now an enjoyment instead of a forced thing I felt like I had to do. I like the content I’m putting out and I guess the universe sees that and is showing me new opportunities!

Outfit Details
I styled this crop top very girly last Monday here but today I went a different route and loved how it turned out. I was skeptical because I don’t wear crop tops with jeans. However this turned out quite nice and since my white jeans are pretty high-waisted it fit together. I paired a bet with it and I’ve been enjoying belting my outfits like I did here. I rolled up my jeans to put my heels on but I like the little detail it gave. I am in love with these white jeans and I’m so glad I bought them for spring because I’ve been wearing them so many ways.
I loved the accessories in this outfit here so I just repeated them. So again the matching printed bow to the top, same sunnies and same jewelry. Not much is different so that’s why I wrote a summer accessory favorites post here.
That’s what to do when you’re uninspired to blog! I hope you’re inspired by this and get out of the funk if you are in one. I think these tips would work great with anything just rearrange the struggle you are going through too. It helped a lot of aspects in my life and I took these tips to heart. The post that really got me to write and start blogging again was this one here and I felt so happy with how it turned out and that I finished it since it was sat in my drafts for a good few weeks. I’m so glad I wrote this and hope you enjoyed this and got tips on what to do when you’re uninspired to blog. Let me know if there any other tips that helps you and what inspires you the most to keep creating.
This is a good blog. I felt the same way. I had to take a break at least for a couple of months to see exactly what I wanted to do with my blog. You are right, I had to recreate/redesign my blog to give it a fresh look.
Great tips – and you look a-maz-ing!!!
