How to Transition Your Summer Dress Into Fall
Happy Wednesday! Today I’m sharing how to transition your summer dress into fall. I’m starting to transition my wardrobe finally as I’m more ready for fall now. It’s cooling down a teeny bit here in LA so it isn’t too bad for bringing out some light layers. It was surprisingly chilly when I shot these photos last week so my jacket did have a purpose and wasn’t just a prop. I can’t wait for the sweaters and cardigans to come out of my closet and start showing more transition wear for you. Here is how to transition your summer dress into fall so keep scrolling on how I styled mine.
Outfit Details
I love this dress so much and I styled it a lot over the summer. I wish I could link the exact one but I got mine two years ago on sale for very cheap on Forever 21. I did find similar ones here and here. I wasn’t much of a fan of slip dresses until this one. I found so many ways to wear it and it’s so comfy and cool during the hot days. I couldn’t let go of this dress quite yet so I thought I would style it during this in between period. I mean it is not a fall color whatsoever but I do love it and it can be perfect for this time of year. I love my hot pink you know especially since this post here so I couldn’t let go quite yet with wearing it.

Though I love hot pink and neutral colors styled together. I have a soft spot for hot pink and black. It’s more edgy and cool and I feel like a rock star when I combine the colors. I loved this outfit combo here. I love trying new colors and mixing new ones together but this color palette is the best and you can tell I love it by all the outfits I’ve been styling here on the blog lately.
Layering is your friend
I love layering so adding more layers to the dress is the way to go. You can go my route and do a faux suede moto jacket or you can add a loose and fluffy cardigan or add a sweater on top or even layer it underneath and have the dress on top. Since where I live doesn’t get too cold for fall then light layering is the best and I’ve been getting pretty good at it. So invest in some great layer pieces to add to your wardrobe.
Add fall accessories
The way I can transition this dress is by adding some of my favorite fall accessories from last year. I wore them so much and they scream fall for me. I think fall accessories are one of my favorites to buy and invest in. I know it’s so short but they have the cutest pieces and I can rework them year after year. My booties are back and I love them with dresses. I had always loved that look and now I get to rock it as well so grab your fave little booties and pair it with your fave summer dresses.
My moto jacket is back in stock so I’ve linked that here. I went with all the black accessories. I went with a lot of suede and velvet to have a textured look because they are the best in fall. I love my pearl and velvet bag and I found a matching bow to the bag and I love it. They are both velvet and have pearl embellishments which is so my thing and so darling. I’m glad I got to wear them together. I got these booties last year and they are finally getting broke in and becoming more comfy to walk in. They are so cute and I can’t wait to wear them more again. I added a black heart belt to cinch the waist for this dress and I love that. I’ve been loving belts as of recently. Overall I love how I styled this!
That was how to transition your summer dress into fall! I really enjoyed this and had to share. Let me just say it is so hard to shoot street style. I was wanting this to be in the middle of the road to achieve that street style look which I did think turned out great but boy was it hard. I live on a main road so that is out of the question so I moved over to one of the side streets instead. At first it was okay but then it started to be time for everyone to go home so it got to be a struggle but in the end I got the shots. So I have to give props to girls who do street style all the time because it is hard unless you live in a deserted area. It was fun and love how these photos turned out. So that is how to transition your summer dress into fall and I hope you got inspired to do the same with your dresses. Let me know if you are starting to dress for fall and if you have fall in your area!
