How To Make a Basic Outfit Look Expensive
Happy Friday! Today I’m excited to share another outfit with you but this time I’m showing how to make a basic outfit look expensive! I love styling together outfits but sometimes I fell like my basic outfits look incomplete and not too exciting. So I thought I would share how to elevate your style and making it more polished and looking a little more expensive without breaking the bank too. So here are some of my tips on how to make a basic outfit look expensive!
As you can see my outfit is pretty basic. It’s just a henley top which I have styled two ways before on the blog here. It’s such a nice henley top and love the waffle print. It’s so soft and will look great for all year round use. I’m wearing a medium and it’s a very over-sized fit but I sized down as it was so too big and I wanted it to still be loose but not like I’m wearing a giant blanket. My shorts are perfect for summer. They are white with a little lace detailing and the best part is they aren’t too short so I feel comfortable while wearing them. I thought the top and shorts would look great together and there we have a basic outfit.
Chunky Bracelets
Recently I have been loving the look of adding chunky bracelets into my accessories. I used to love dainty bracelets but ow I love the full layered look. They all compliment each other. I went with gold hardware with all the bracelets and then some pearls to mix in. Also a lot have bows on them because it’s my signature style. So get into mixing and matching your bracelets and combining them together to get the desired chunky look to add some extra style to your outfit.
Designer Bag
Or in my case a designer bag dupe. I know not all of us can afford a luxury designer bag but I’m not opposed to having a dupe to either get the style for less or trying it out before you buy the real deal. I talk more about my thoughts on designer dupes here. Well any kind of bag will make your outfit look expensive as long as you rock it and it coordinates with your outfit. Mine is a dupe of the Chloe Faye Day bag. I’m a big fan of Chloe’s design and this is my third Chloe bag dupe. This bag just elevates my outfit and makes it more chic when I paired it with my outfit.
Great Pair of Sunnies
Sometimes you just need to pop on a good pair of sunglasses to really elevate and make your outfit expensive looking when it’s not. I never used to be a sunglass wearer but now I have so many sunglasses that I mix and match with my outfits. I have the basic colors which look good with many outfits and then I have the cutesy [airs that match with specific themes of outfits. Basically I recommend a simple black pair as it can make your outfit look a million times sleeker and it can cover your eyes when you didn’t get as much sleep like you wanted the night before.

Sleek Hairstyle
With this outfit, I knew a slick back low ponytail would be best. I don’t normally go for the low ponytail and more of the extra high pony but this style was more suited for it. I combed my hair to create a sleek look and curled the ends of my hair to really emphasis my natural waves.
Hair Accessories
I’m all about my hair accessories and I love how popular they are. Any kind of hair accessory just elevates your look and completes the outfit. No matter what accessory like a hair scarf which I’m wearing that are very popular right now or maybe a bow like I usually have on or maybe a hat to go with the look. I think having some kind of hair accessory to finish off the look will make it look more stylish. So try one out and experiment which you can incorporate into your wardrobe.
Layered Necklaces
Just like the chunky bracelets, I have discovered the multiple necklace trend. I still like the dainty detail but now I mix and match them to create a layered necklace look. I have two bow pendents which are in different styles but still compliment each other and then a diamond in the middle to counteract with the bows. It just makes your outfit so much better when you have different layered necklace especially to compliment the neckline of the top.

That was how to make a basic outfit look expensive! I love this outfit and how it turned out. I love this top and I saw a similar one on the Nsale so if you want a good basic top for every season then I totally recommend. A lot of bloggers have styled it and I can see why so many have a similar top. I’m totally going to pick up a few more in different colors while I can. I hope you found this post of how to make a basic outfit look expensive helpful and got a few tips on how to elevate your style for less as well! Let me know if you have any other tips too!
