Dressingย Likeย Anย Everydayย Princessย inย aย Tulle Skirt
Happy Monday! Today I’m sharing how I’m dressing like an everyday princess in a tulle skirt. I have some pretty crazy outfit choices sometimes and a part of it is because of my blog and the other part of it is because I like to get dressed up and feel like I’m a princess for the day. I don’t think I ever grew out of the phase of dress up and I’m glad I didn’t. I thought I would share how I style tulle skirts and make it an everyday thing. Who says you need an occasion to wear one? So here is a few tips on how you can rock one on your own and how I’m dressing like an everyday princess in a tulle skirt!
Let me give my outfit details first and then I can get on with how to wear one. Firstly, my top is actually a dress. It is my birthday dress I wore here and you can buy this dress here. It is a hot pink satin off the shoulder dress and it is the prettiest. You can wear it on it’s own but I wanted to style it again so I threw on a tulle skirt. (hint: that’s a sneak peak on one way to style a tulle skirt) I linked similar options for tulle skirts but a lot of mine are custom made for me. Back when I lived in Manila, it was so easy to buy the material I wanted and have them custom made how I liked them. This one I requested extra tulle to be extra puffy. It paid off as it is the most fluffiest skirt I have. You may also wonder how I packed these in my suitcase when I moved to LA? Well the answer is I rolled it up with rubber bands and put it in a compression bag. When I got here I took it out and unrolled it then hung it up and it is still perfect as you can see. I wore all my everyday jewelry, my current hot pink bag to match, a hot pink floral bow and then some nude chunky heel sandals. My everyday princess outfit is complete.

You may also wonder if I actually wear this out in public. Yes. Yes I do. I do get a little anxious that I stand out but once I’m out there it just doesn’t matter. Actually, moving here to LA I get less stares and more compliments. It took a while to overcome and become confident wearing this but I did. I’m writing up a blog post about it too so stay tuned on how I became confident wearing this kind of outfit in public. This isn’t what this blog post is about though. It’s about how I style tulle skirts and make them an everyday thing.
How To Style a Tulle Skirt For Everyday Wear
Find a skirt you like and feel comfortable in.
This is my biggest tip. Find one that fits your personality. I have quite a few I like and some in my favorite color hot pink and blush pink. I can’t stress enough about finding the right one for you. It will make it so much easier to wear.
Start small and find one not so puffy.
I know that a lot of tulle skirts are in your face but I actually seen some that aren’t. Maybe start with a single layer tulle skirt first and then if you can rock that then you can upgrade to something more outrageous.
Pair it with another dress in your wardrobe.
My favorite thing to do is style my tulle skirts with other dresses in my closet. When I wear my dress once and don’t know how to wear it again I just throw on a tulle skirt and it transforms my dress to something more whimsical. Also a tip within a tip, if your dress is too short then throw on a (tulle) skirt over it. I do this all the time and it helps loads.
Wear it with a simple top to make the skirt the focus.
I suggest not going so bold like I do. I’m used to it so I can go wild whenever I want. I think starting with a simple top that doesn’t draw too much attention will be perfect to pair with a tulle skirt that way you can have it the main focus of the outfit.
Keep it casual for everyday.
If you aren’t too much of a girly girl like I am then tone it down. Pair with sneakers and maybe grunge it up with a leather jacket. Make it your own and fit your style. There’s nothing wrong with trying something new. I just like being extra and girl so my everyday look is different but go with what you like is the best tip I can give.
I’ve always been a little bit extra. I recently watched a few home videos of when I was a little girl and I was always wearing puffy dresses and skirts so it’s natural I still do. I have worn tulle skirts so much that they are an essential in my wardrobe. I feel so confident in them and feel like myself. I think right now this is one of my fave outfits I’ve worn so far this year. I guess being a former ballerina as well I always loved wearing tutus and this reminds me of that and I’m quite a fan of the “ballet fashion” I see.
I love whimsical fashion and my style teacher in fashion school said that whimsical fashion was my aesthetic so ever since then I describe how I dress as everyday style meets whimsical fashion. I either dress like this here with leggings and a tee or I’m in this. There is no in between and I love it. I mean my blog helps me to wear this as I feel like I am dressing up for an audience sometimes but other times I just want to dress like this for me. So do it for you and dress how you want to dress. If you want to look like your about to attend a royal ball or you can’t be bothered and just want to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Just dress however and don’t care about what others think.
So that is how I’m dressing like an everyday princess in a tulle skirt and how I style one. I can’t wait to share I guess part two of this which is how I got so confident in wearing outfits like this and actually shooting them in public. So stay tuned for that as it has been so fun to write this mini series I guess is what I’m calling it. I’d love to know if any of you wear tulle skirts on the regular like me. I can link a few of my tulle skirt outfits down below if you need more tulle skirt outfit ideas. So that is how I’m dressing like an everyday princess in a tulle skirt and hope this was helpful and gives you the confidence to try a tulle skirt or another clothing item you’ve been wanting to try. Just go do it and you will feel amazing in it trust me. You don’t need an occasion to do so just put it on and strut your stuff!
