What I Packed For a Weekend Trip
Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing what I packed for a weekend trip. I hinted at a trip in this post here and it finally happened. I went last weekend so that’s why there was no posts. I love packing posts and have done quite a few. I haven’t packed for a train ride or a long weekend before so this is what this post is. I have one for an island vacation here, a staycation here, a birthday vacation here and an international trip here. I packed for quite a few so i’m pretty good at it. I have shared a lot of my packing tips for my trips but this will focus on how I outfit planned for this trip. So here is what I packed for a weekend trip and everything I took with me when I went on a train last weekend!
Outfit Planning
Sometimes I outfit plan and sometimes I wing it and pack different pieces that could go with each other. For this trip I knew exactly what outfits to bring with me so I put them together. I took all the items and put them on my bed and then I added the accessories and shoes. Then the pictures you see are what I had on my phone to remind me what goes together. I made a note of what I was going to wear. I had no idea where to shoot these so I just winged it. I know these pieces are inter-changeable and I could pair them with each other as well. So I ended up packing 3 outfits, a pair of pajamas, a light jacket which was my denim jacket and then a thicker coat which I brought my teddy bear jacket to keep me warm and lastly my underwear of course. I didn’t over pack for once and just took what I needed, I mean I took extra outfits as I needed to shoot some outfit pictures as it is what I do so of course I had more clothes than a normal person takes. However in my standard this was me packing light for once.
Here is everything I wanted to take on my bed before I added them in the packing cubes.
I love these packing cubes and they are so handy and keep you organized so you know where everything is at. I even blogged about my top ten travel products here. The large size packing cube had all three of the outfits I planned. The medium size had all the shoes I wanted to take so it had my sandals, slip on shoes and some flip flops. These were a bit dirty so I threw them in the packing cube and they didn’t slid around and were together all the time. Lastly the small packing cube held my pajamas, a pajama top and a few camis and socks. The small size laundry pouch held my underwear.
All the packing cubes fit perfectly together in my medium size suitcase I brought with me and I buckled them in. On the other side of the suitcase I put my extra bag and the extra pouches for laundry. Then my jacket fit inside. Lastly my makeup bag I packed with my skincare bag inside that helped body products and skincare. It fit perfectly inside each other and I could just pop it in. I did leave some room in case I did any shopping too.
My Carry On
I am finally using my Kate Spade tote bag I got for Christmas here. It is the perfect bag to travel with and I was so excited to use it. I packed it quite well with a lot of my essentials. Mostly it contained all my gadgets and tech stuff. I kept one of my packing pouches and that is where it stored my batteries for my vlogging camera and chargers. I did have a cord organizer as well that kept all my iPhone and iPad chargers neat and tangle free. I took my laptop so I could edit on the train. My iPad, camera and of course phones. I put in some sunglasses in their case too. Then I threw in some snacks and a water bottle. It fit everything perfectly and it carried my travel neck pillow as well.
By now you have seen my suitcase a million times. I love my three piece set and it is definitely very noticeable when you travel. I took the medium size instead of the small size because I over pack and need the room all the time. It fit great with my tote bag and those were what I traveled with.
That is what I packed for a weekend trip. I hope you enjoy reading these packing posts as much as I love writing them for all my trips no matter how big or small my trips are. I can’t wait to share with you my adventure and I even vlogged it too so stay tuned for a travel photo diary these outfits I took with me on. I even filmed a pack with me video which is up on my Youtube channel here. Even though I have blogged about my packing posts a lot I don’t film them too often so it was nice to do that for once. I hope you enjoyed what I packed for a weekend trip and hope you got some tips for a weekend trip.
I always love reading these types of posts!
