My Best Beauty Favorites of 2018
Happy! Today I’m sharing my best beauty favorites of 2018! I mean it is a little late as it’s half way through January already but I still wanted to share. I actually did one last year and shared my 2017 beauty favorites which you can read here. Some made it to this year’s list and some are newcomers. I’ve done a big recap of my best beauty buys of 2018. I needed to update you guys on my favorite products from the beginning to the end of the year. This is going to be a long and I ramble a lot about my favorites so let’s get started with my best beauty favorites of 2018 I loved all year.
Best of Beauty 2018
To start with my best beauty favorites of 2018, I thought I would share how much I fell in love with beauty again. I got in a rut with my routine but I got some new makeup and it rekindle my love. I also established a new skincare routine and discovered some great products for my skin. Lastly, haircare was quite a struggle in the beginning but I found products to help that.
Best of Makeup
Best Foundation
I have two fave foundations from 2018. The first is high end and it goes to the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. If I’m going for a really glam and full coverage look then I use this. The drugstore favorite goes to the L’oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. I use this for light everyday but it’s also buildable and looks amazing and gives me such a flawless base.
Full review of foundation here.
Best Concealer
There was also two concealer favorites. The first is high end and has been my go to at the moment which is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. It gives amazing coverage and looks amazing on. The drugstore favorite goes to the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer and it’s great for everyday. It covers under eye circles and is amazing for when I need it.
Best Powder
The best powder of 2018 goes to the Essence All About Matte Finishing Powder. I bought this during the summer to make me matte and I have loved it since. I hit pan so you can definitely tell I love it and it’s drugstore and inexpensive so even better.
Best Brow Products
For my best brow products, there are two and the duo gives me great brows. I have been practicing and getting better and better and it’s because of these products. The first is the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette and I use it to fill in the sparse areas to make my brows even. It’s a great color and affordable from the drugstore. Then I set them with a clear brow gel to keep them in place and not stick up like they usually want to do and that’s thanks to the Benefit 24 Hour Ready Set Brow Gel. I just bought my second tube and I loved it that much.
Best Eyeshadow Palettes
Now for the best eyeshadow palettes of the year. I couldn’t decide so I split it up by season. My best summer palette had to go to the BYS Peach Palette. It was my go to palette and I love the pink and peach shades but it had some pretty brown ones for an everyday neutral eye look. Then I got the Ulta x Melissa Michelle Eyeshadow Palette which was the best fall palette and my go to everyday right now. It’s pretty great and a good travel palette. So I had to give the best beauty award to these two eyeshadow palettes.
Best Mascara
There was two mascaras that made it’s way to the best of beauty and the first is high end which is the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. It is my second tube of this and it is just lovely. It makes my lashes fuller and so pretty. The drugstore mascara I loved is L’oreal Lash Paradise and it is quite similar to the BTS one and much cheaper. I alternate between both and love them both so that’s why they both made the list.
Best Eyeliner
The best eyeliner goes to Maybelline Hypersharp Liquid Liner and it wins top spot again. This is the third one I have bought and it is still amazing. I love the pigmentation and it is so easy to use. I am getting so good at using this eyeliner and getting the perfect flick and line. So of course it had to win top spot.
Best Contour & Blush Palette
Now the best contour and blush palette is from Detail Makeover and it has been in my top favorites since last year. I truly love this palette and use the contour and blush every time I do my makeup. It is the perfect shade for me and it blends so well.
Best Highlighter
For the best highlighter of 2018, it has to go to the Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette again. I did love the Too Faced Love Light Highlight too but I unfortunately misplaced it so I stopped using it because of that but if I did know where it was at I think that would have won. I used the Solstice one whenever I did use highlight.
Best Lip Balm
The lip balm favorite of the year goes to the EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry. I finally found this when I was living in Manila and was so excited to try it. Now that I live in LA I see it everywhere. I do love it and with my lips being so dry here and wearing so many matte lipsticks it has helped so much.
Best Lipsticks
My favorite makeup product ever so I couldn’t choose just one lipstick. So I decided to pick one of each shade. A pinky nude, a mauve and a red. To begin with then the best pinky nude lipstick goes to the L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick Les Chocolat in Candyman. It is the perfect nudish pink color and best part it smells like chocolate. Next the best mauve lipstick and my everyday shade even right now is the NYX Liquid Suede in Soft Spoken. It is a perfect color and looks amazing on me. Last is my favorite red lipstick which was actually my fave in 2017 as well. If you have seen me wear a red lip then it is the Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Lady Balls. it’s the perfect festive red and my go to red shade.
Best Setting Spray
This was a recent discovery but it had to make it in as the best setting spray which goes the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. It completes my makeup and sets it in place all day because I want to preserve my makeup especially when I love how it turned out.
Best Brushes
The best brushes I used in 2018 were the Real Techniques ones including the RT sponge to apply my foundation. I think the buffing brush, the sculpting brush and the setting brush were my favorites and I can’t live without them plus they are super affordable and great quality.
Best of Skincare
Best Cleanser
The best cleanser I’ve used in 2018 goes to the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. I use this balm to remove makeup. It’s a nice balm and gets rid of my makeup nicely. I ran out of this and buying a new one as it was great and leaves my skin soft and so clean. Also it’s really nice with a warm face towel to remove my makeup and it feels so fresh. Such a great product and highly recommend.
Best Makeup Remover
To remove my makeup now that I ran out of the Double Cleanse I use the Bliss Melt Jelly Cleanser. I tried this first as I heard it was very similar to the Glossier one and much cheaper. I ended up liking it and I use it dry to remove my makeup at the end of the day and I use it wet everyday to cleanse my face. It’s great and has no bad chemicals in it so it leaves my skin nice and clean.
Best Exfoliating Toner
The best exfoliating toner has to go to the Fresh Umbrian Clay Toner and how it gets rid of my dry skin. It is wonderful and not too harsh on the skin. It leaves my skin smooth again and takes the dry flakes off. I use it with a cotton round and then it creates a smooth base to put makeup on. So best exfoliate toner goes to this.
Best Hydrating Toner
I didn’t love one but two toners. This one is the Lancome Tonique Hydrating Toner and it is so smooth on the skin and replenishes my dryness after I’ve exfoliated. I love the consistency and how nice it makes my skin after I use.
Best Moisturizer
Lastly the best moisturizer for 2018 had to go to the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Moisturizer. It is so hydrating and makes me skin so soft and well moisturized when I use it. It’s a fair price point and does a good job so I have to give it the best award.
Best of Haircare
Best Hair Brush
The best hair brush I have used this year goes to the Wet Paddle Brush. I needed a hair brush after forgetting mine when I moved so I heard great things about the brand and it did come through and it is great to brush my hair after I shower and gets the tangles out.
Best Curling Iron
For the best hair tool of 2018, it has to go to my Conair 1/4 Inch Curling Iron. It was the first hair tool I purchased when I got to LA after leaving mine back home. It’s pink and my first bigger barrel curling iron and it gives me bigger bouncier curls. I love it and it made the best hair tool.
Best Shampoo and Conditioner
Now the best shampoo and conditioner duo goes to the Kristen Ess The One Signature. I bought this as it was the only sulfate and chemical free shampoo at the time. I also couldn’t help it that it was blush pink too. It smells great and leaves my hair soft so that’s why it made it as the best shampoo and conditioner of 2018.
Best Hairspray
Last hair product I enjoyed in 2018 goes to the L’oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray. I discovered this when I needed a hairspray to keep my curls to stay and it has done it’s job and doesn’t make my hair stiff or hard. It doesn’t smell like hairspray either which is great making it on to the best haircare.
Those were my best beauty favorites of 2018! I hope you didn’t mind how long it was. I did enjoy writing all my thoughts about my faves. I’d love to know if you had any life-changing or interesting favorites from 2018. So that is it and for my best beauty favorites of 2018 and all the makeup, skincare and haircare that made it on the list.
Hey Jackie, I loved this collection of Beauty Favorites for 2018. I can’t wait to see which ones you love for 2019. I have fallen in love with Too Faced lipsticks. 🙂
Thanks Quida! I’m glad you liked this and I can’t wait to see what this years will be too!

I recently tried the Too Faced mascara for the first time and can see why it’s so popular. I love the wand but I’m not sure if I like formula – have to keep testing it out.
Thanks Candace! It is quite lovely and glad you tried it. It took a while for me to like the formula but I got used to it and learned to work with it.
