Halloween Costumes Ideas Straight From Your Closet
Happy Friday! Since Halloween is a couple of days away and I procrastinated and pretty much almost forgot about my annual costume post and lookbook that I do every year I am going to share a few looks I created. These Halloween costumes ideas straight from your closet and can be used all year round. I decided to shop my closet and came up with 5 different costume ideas. I actually filmed the whole process of coming up with all the outfits over on my Youtube channel which the lookbook will be out tonight! So here are some Halloween costumes ideas straight from your closet!
Super Mario
For the first costume I came up with is the classic Super Mario. My cousin sparked the thought into my head and I had some of the items to recreate the costume and so here we are. It is super quick and simple. I mean I do think an overall dress would be more appropriate but it’s all I had. So just take a red shirt, a denim skirt, a red beret and some white sneakers to keep it casual and you can get the look. I DIYed the hat and just cut out the logo and there you have it a last minute Super Mario costume.
Harry Potter
Next is Harry potter and this was inspired by my scarf. I had already thought about the scarf being the perfect colors for it so I went with it and made the cutest costume. It’s a little school uniform inspired. I didn’t have a white button up t-shirt so I improvised instead. I wanted it to be a challenge and not buy anything for the costumes and just use whatever I have on hand. So I wore a white ruffle sleeve shirt, a black skater skirt, a Gryfindor colored scarf, knee high grey socks and black heeled ankle boots to get the look. You can tell what you are and just maybe add the lightning bolt to the forehead, some glasses and a wand and you can really be a Harry Potter character without even having to be a single thing for it.
Black Swan/Black Cat
The basic costume probably everyone has in their closet. It depends on the weather you have where you live but this is just the base of the outfit. I think this can be your basic cat or rabbit or be black swan as this feather skirt is perfect for that. So all you need is a black outfit and take a black turtleneck ribbed top, a black feather skirt and some black heeled wedges then I added a black velvet bow and black tassel earrings to complete the look. You can add the different accessories to fit who you want to be so if you are a cat, rabbit of whatever just buy the accessories for it.
Super Villain / Vampire
Honestly this has to be one of my fave costumes I styled for this lookbook. I randomly came across a leather skirt and from there it just fell together. You can either be some sort of super villain or you can add some accesories and be a bad ass vampire. I think I look like an evil vampire from The Vampire Diaries. It’s super chic and can also be a cool outfit too. All you need is some sort of black suede moto jacket, a black lace cami, a black leather high low skirt, some over the knee boots and you have a bad ass super villain costume.
Alice in Wonderland
Lastly is a costume I kind of did last year where I was a modern Belle. This one is a simple Alice in Wonderland kind of look and if she was around today I think she would wear something like this. i was out of ideas at this point and didn’t know what to style so here it is. First you need a sky blue embroidered top, a white embroidered hem skirt, some frilly lace socks with some nude heels and a big blue hair bow with white pom pom earrings to finish off the look. I was supposed to use frilly white socks I thought I had but didn’t have them so I used the knee high socks but didn’t roll them up. It’s still cute though.
So those were some Halloween costumes ideas straight from your closet! I highly recommend you shop your closet and try to look for costume ideas as you will be surprised how easy it is to recreate some of these or even come up with ones on your own. I had so much fun creating these and it’s another one for the books of my Halloween outfit and costume ideas. I wonder when I’ll run out because this year was a bit of a struggle until I did this blog post. If you want to see my Halloween lookbook from last year then you can read that here and from a few years back here. So I hope you found some inspiration and have some Halloween costumes ideas straight from your closet to look at. Let me know what you are dressing up as or if you will try one of my ideas. I’d love to know and I’ll share my actual costume soon!
