Goodbye Manila and Hello LA – Moving To A New Country
Happy Monday! It’s a very happy Monday because I’m in LA. Let me just type that again. I’m in LA! Well as I’m writing this I’m in the airport terminal waiting to board my flight. Good thing I have wifi. I’m probably in Los Angeles and enjoying my first few days here. That seems weird as I began writing this post in the Philippines a week prior. I mentioned/announced in my blog post about 5 things on my to do list in June (you can read here) that I was moving to LA. Well here is a more detailed post about it. I promised I would talk about it in depth so here I am telling you why I made the decision and my plans. So Goodbye Manila and Hello LA!
Before I get into my reasons for moving to a new country I thought I would give some background info. I’m half American and half Filipino if you were wondering and curious about my nationality. So I was born and raised in the U.S and lived in Southern California until I was 15. I then moved to the Philippines after my parents decided to retire there. The school system is weird so I went from a freshman in high school to a senior in high school. I graduated when I was 16 and went to college right away. I got a bachelors degree in communication and media then right after that I went to fashion school and got a degree in that. Then when I thought I was done with school, I started my career and went full time with this blog.
I had been living in the Philippines for 10 years. Actually I arrived in Manila on June 24, 2008 and I actually left for the U.S again June 21, 2018 so almost exactly 10 years. I spent most of my teen and young adult life in Manila and learned how to live there. I hadn’t been back in 10 years and I’m sure a lot changed and it will be very different when I get there.

I decided a few months ago that I wanted a change and do something different. At the beginning of the year I had a few goals and one of them was get my own place. I took it a step above and in fact I did get my own place but in a whole entire new country. There are a lot of reasons I did this. Some was for my own personal gain and some were personal for me. I was so nervous at first that it would not even go through and I was silly for even thinking I could move to a whole other county.
Honestly, I wasn’t happy with how my life was going. I was tired of my same old routine and was tired of my life repeating itself everyday. So instead of being unhappy and not loving what I was doing, I knew something needed to change. I kept thinking about it and something just came to me. I think it was a dream at first. I still remember it. I don’t remember how the dream started but I remember certain parts of it when I woke up. I could see I was underneath the staircase of my house with my suitcase laying beside me. I was deciding which pair of shoes to put in. Then someone came up to me and asked where I was going. I said, “I’m going to LA.” Now that part I remember clearly and the part at the end I saw a plane in the sky. I thought about that dream for a few days. I wondered if it was possible and I made it possible.
It seems like that dream was my main motivation but it wasn’t. There was a lot of planning involved. It took a few months of research and getting everything together. However an idea or dream became a reality. I usually don’t believe in signs but after one after another kept showing me that I should go ahead and go with my plans then I believed it. I believe in everything happens for a reason now. If you can take something from this blog post then I suggest you pursue your dreams no matter how big or small it is. Mine was a little dream and then I got to thinking about it to planning it and to actually doing it. I said goodbye Manila and hello LA and I never thought I would be saying that but here I am!
“Anything is possible if you believe!”
That was my moving to a new country post. You will be hearing about my move and my new adventures here on my blog and of course I will be documenting it over on my Youtube channels as well. It took me a while to get this post as it took me a while to get internet and wifi at my new place. Now that I can publish this a week after I have been in LA then you will be seeing a lot more of me. My airport outfit will be out soon as well as my packing post for what I packed and took with me to LA. So look forward to that as I’m excited to share that with you. I’m just so excited to share this journey with you and since my little break from the internet I have so many ideas and new content to put out. I don’t know my plans yet or what the future will hold for me here in LA but I am excited to find out. So I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and maybe got inspired a little bit from the big step I took. Let me know if I’m not the only one who took a leap and moved to a different country again because I would love to hear your story and what it was like. I guess goodbye Manila and hello LA!
