Answering Questions About My Move Back to LA
Happy Monday! It’s been a while since I properly blogged so I am spending my Saturday afternoon writing this post to go live on Monday. I’m hopefully going to spend my weekend catching up on everything blog related as I miss it. I miss just writing and shooting content for all my social medias. It was a nice break while I adjust but I need my blogging routine back to feel more normal. Also I’m in LA so that means more content and photo shoot locations, more stores to go shopping and find cute outfits and just more possibilities. I actually spent my whole Friday morning in bed looking at places to shoot at and plan what to wear at those locations. It’s made me excited to get back and be a blogger again. Before I get into all the fun LA content though I thought I should update you since I’ve been in LA for 2 weeks now. I still have my packing post to put up but that is the last of my travel posts for a while of course. I have a lot of footage of my move as well and vlogs so I’m slowly getting back into everything. So hope you are patient and can bare with me as I find my blogging and filming routine again. I guess this post is just going to update you on how I’m doing so far and what I’ve been up to. So I’m going to be answering questions about my move back to LA!
I complied a few questions that I could answer about my move back so far:
Adjusting to a New Normal
How does it feel living in California again?
It’s familiar yet not familiar at the same time. I feel like I recognize stuff but then it feels like everything is brand new. It’s confusing but not. I don’t know if you get what I mean but there are things that I know and then things that I don’t.
When did it sink in you were here?
When it finally sunk in, I froze. It finally became real. I was walking outside my house heading to Whole Foods to buy water and it hit me. I was in LA. I was in California. I was in the USA. It was a strange feeling. I had my headphones in listening to the new Little Mix song and watching the cars pass on the road beside me. I can’t explain it but I smiled and kept walking. I looked at everything around me and realized I was there in the moment.
What’s been the hardest thing so far?
There are a few obstacles and hard things I’ve encountered but I think the main thing that gets me frustrated is the tax. I plan on buying something and I forgot you had to add on to the price. I got so used to tax being included in the price of an item in Manila and it has been rough to get used to. I messed up a few times in the beginning and made the excuse of I just moved back here after 10 years. It really gets me and so far it is the hardest thing to get used to. I thought it would be the transportation but honestly nothing is harder than the tax you pay and how much you have to add to buy something. It puts me off but hopefully I’ll be used to it soon.
What’s been your favorite place you’ve visited so far?
Target! I used to love Target and now I get to go there whenever I want now. It was the first store I visited and when I went I couldn’t contain my excitement. That is my favorite but I did love going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I haven’t been since I was a kid so seeing it was very surreal. I haven’t been to too many places so honestly those two are my faves 2 weeks in.
What’s your best purchase so far?
I guess my bed and everything I bought with my bed including the pillows, blankets, comforter and bed sheets to make it the most Pinterest bed possible. I love it so far. mean there are other fun things I bought which I filmed so many Target and shopping hauls so you will see them whenever I get my butt to editing the footage.
Was it hard to adjust?
Honestly it wasn’t too hard for me. I guess since I lived here for 15 years before it was a bit easier. I do still remember living here so it isn’t too unfamiliar. I did move to a new area then where I previously lived in so I am getting used to actually living in LA instead. I am kind of used to the bus system when I need it or I just Uber everywhere I need to go.
Are you going to continue to blog?
For now I am. I plan to keep up with my blog and Youtube channel. It’s a new area and so many fun opportunities. I’m not limited like I was in Manila with trying to shoot in the same places again and again and going to the same stores buying similar clothes. Right now I hope to continue and see where this new blogging journey takes me. It might take a back seat once in a while but I hope I’ll see a new chapter of fashionxfairytale.
Any advice on moving to LA?
Make sure it is what you want. I knew I wanted this and I was prepared that it would be hard and needed a lot of planning. I was also aware it takes a lot of money. I suggest saving your money and invest it in where you are going to live in LA. That is what I did and I saved extra spending money. Just know it takes a lot of money and it is a big decision so make it wisely. It’s scary but if it’s what you really want then chase that dream.
Is it everything you wanted and more?
Yes! It 110% is! I am loving it so far. I am having the time of my life and there are so many things to see and do on my LA to do list. I’m the happiest I could ever be but that does lead me to the next question to bring things down a bit.
Are you homesick and are you lonely?
A little when I’m about to go to sleep but other than that I don’t. I thought I would be more homesick than I thought but it actually isn’t bad. I left my whole family in Manila including my close relatives and parents. I got homesick at the airport waiting for my flight after saying goodbye to everyone. Then when I got here there was so many things to see and do that I’m not homesick or lonely. I have 2 roommates at the house I’m renting so I can talk with them. Also I talk with my cousins on video call and talk with my dad every night so it’s like I’m there with them. I got to take them shopping at the malls here in LA and they took me on a road trip in Manila. Technology nowadays makes it possible that you don’t miss things. If you are someone who knows that will get homesick and lonely easily then maybe think about it.
What are you looking forward to doing?
So many things! If I list them all then we would be here until next year. I do have a few places in mind and exploring the local area. I think Melrose is where I plan on going soon and then a few fun LA popular Instagram places of course.

Thanks for sharing! Moving always comes with a shaky adjustment period, even if you’re returning to a familiar place. If you had to choose another place in the US to live, where would you choose?
Thanks George! Glad you get it and what I was trying to say. I would love to live in different places here in the US but a few that comes into mind would be New York or maybe somewhere in Texas for some reason. I don’t know I just never been and always seem curious about them.
