Hello there!
Welcome to the new and improved fashionxfairytale! I’ve been through so many redesigns that it’s probably fashionxfairytale 5.0 or up by now so I’m sticking with new and improved. This time it isn’t just a redesign. It’s much more than that as I transferred from Blogger to my own self-hosted WordPress. This is actually the first post I’m typing up since I switched over! This is pretty much going to be a ramble and a catch up of what’s been happening lately, my move from Blogger to WordPress, the outfit and a bit about the location of the outfit and a bit of how I’m editing my pictures in Lightroom. So grab a a beverage to not only toast to my new little space on the Internet but get cozy as this might be long!
I’ve actually been blogging for almost seven years. SEVEN YEARS! WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE? I have been writing on Blogger for over 6 years and I loved it. It’s where I began and it was so familiar to me. Then I started to get frustrated as I couldn’t get the formatting I wanted and I started getting tired of the designs. I mean I get tired of my design every year or two so that was normal. I then saw so many switching over and I thought long and hard about it. I think I’ve been debating for 2 years or so now. This year I took the plunge. I can’t believe I did it but I did and here we are. I’m going to be doing a full in-depth post about the switch and a review of it soon. So stay tuned for that. This was just to introduce I switched over but ever since then I’ve never felt so inspired to make amazing content for the blog again!
A Pink Palace
As for the outfit, this is the epitome of my style. I shot these last month as I had the move in mind and wanted these pictures to go along with this post so I planned the shoot and love how they turned out. I found the most gorgeous apartment building and it is so pretty and when I was planning these I knew they would go perfectly with my aesthetic and brand and they totally do! We shot them at the right moment too as the sun was perfect. It was not too bright and it didn’t cast shadows. As soon as I saw the preview on the camera I knew these were a special set and I would love them. I couldn’t wait to post these and it was so hard to narrow down my favorites. I eventually did but it is a little more than what I usually post. So enjoy the pretty pink goodness of the background and of course my outfit!
This sweater is amazing and I am using it so much. I’ve worn it a few times now and I love it. You can see it styled two ways one here and here. The velvet cami inside is still my go to to cover up as I haven’t found anything to wear inside it that I like better. My tulle skirt is custom made and I had it specifically made for me. I put in extra tulle layers underneath so it is extra puffy and perfect for twirling around in. I wish I had more occasions to wear it too as it is so pretty and fun. Wearing it makes me feel like an absolute princess.
Pretty Pink Wall
I see all these bloggers get to take pictures at a pink wall and honestly it has been a dream and I am so happy I found one. It is the perfect shade and I squealed when I first discovered it. It is so close to my house too and in a super pretty neighborhood. I totally did it for the ‘gram when I had this shoot in mind if you couldn’t tell. I actually said it to my cousin and he didn’t get it. Actually this building not only has a pink wall but all kinds of pretty pastel shades. I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’m planning some spring and Easter content to shoot in the different colored walls so look at for some more pretty pastel goodness coming soon to the blog.
Before I move on to my outfit details, I wanted to give a shout out to my makeup. I bought all kinds of new makeup this month as I’m doing my own bridesmaid makeup and needed a few new things. I wanted to do a sort of wedding trial makeup on myself to see what I’m going to be doing on the day of and this was the result. I am so happy with it and it turned out so nice. I love the products and so glad I picked them up. I need to do a bit more practice for the actual day of the wedding but so far I have all the makeup items picked to use on the day. I won’t list what products I used yet as that will be another post but you have that to look forward to that if you liked the makeup I did.
As for accessories, I kept it simple and let the outfit be the shinning star. I did finally use my pretty Valentine’s Day bag that I haven’t used since then. As you saw before it does have a chain strap but I left it tucked in and used it as a clutch. You know what? I think it made the outfit a little more classy that way. It is a bit big to be a comfortable clutch bag for an evening event but for this outfit it totally worked.
The shoes have been my current go to heels and you are probably tired seeing them but I love them and look how good they look with the outfits I pair them with.
The rest of my accessories are my pink H&M earrings. I actually lost these for a bit but I found them in my other wallet and I was so happy to be reunited with them. They were the ones I wanted to wear with this outfit and when I thought I lost them I was so sad as they would be perfect since they aren’t to big or over the top but you can still see them and they are pink. I made sure to keep them safe until I shot the outfit. Lastly my bow! My go to favorite bow. It’s pink, velvet and over-sized. What more could I want in a bow?
Next topic I wanted to jump into is how I edited these photos and how I plan to editing my photos now. I recently started using Lightroom and I can now understand why so many use it. I love it and have found a few presets to use. I might have found one that is perfect for me and matches so well with my aesthetic. I still am going to play with them but I love the pink tint to it and it will look so good on my Instagram. I also had so fun editing these and as I said it took me a while to narrow down the shots but I am so happy with all the ones that made it to the screen.
This year I made it a personal goal that I would do everything in my power to make my blog my number one income and depend on it. I have been blogging for 7 years this year, doing this full time for about 3 years maybe and on top of that I will be turning 25. Though I’ve been doing freelance for a couple years now I still don’t make enough to live on my own and depend on it. It makes fairly good money and I’ve managed to buy a lot from it and I want to continue that. I love what I do so I justified making the switch and paying for hosting and all that. I was intimidated and didn’t think I was worthy at first. Then something in my mind told me that I shouldn’t be afraid and just do it. I did it. Personally I think it was the best move. This is my brand and I’ve been growing it and I want to see it grow more. I love blogging and want to make something of it so I am so happy I decided to move to WordPress. Everything is new and scary but I like the change so far and I can’t wait to take you with me in this new blogging experience. I want my blog to become a serious part of my career and I want it to grow and become what I know it can become. I love what I do from the writing, photographing and editing. This blog is my passion and I’m so grateful I found it and it found me.
That is my outfit and that is the new and improved fashionxfairytale! I enjoyed redesigning my blog every year or so, but this time it was way bigger than that. I mean I now have a pretty new design again but it’s not just that this time. It’s a rebranding for me and a complete different place I’m blogging in. I’m so happy I can share this with you now. I kept it quiet a little because I wanted it to be a surprise but I didn’t want to get my hopes up just in case. Well it happened and I went for it so now I can share this exciting thing with you. I hope you liked this blog post and didn’t mind the long and rambly chit chat mixed in. I wanted to get a lot of stuff out and this was the blog post I could do that with since I did take a week and a half break from blogging to set everything back up. I think everything is in place but let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary. I’m still getting used to the formatting and writing in a whole different platform so it might take a few attempts for me to get it right. Please let me know what you think and leave a comment about what you think about everything I talked about in this blog post! Your support means the world to me and without you reading my little space on the internet I don’t think I would be doing this so thank you! Thank you for supporting fashionxfairytale!
