Mermaid Ruffles
Happy Monday! I’m going to start the week off by being a bit positive here on the blog. Since I wanted to discuss and write more about some body positive posts and promised I would write this so here we are. I mentioned that a couple people have influenced me to wear my swimsuit and gave me some confidence to wear it out. I wanted to give them a shout out and also share a few tips myself on what I learned and how to be a positive role model of any type.
My Body Positive Role Models
Loeylane – She was the first I discovered to lead me to where I am. I found her on the Instagram explore page and that led me to her Youtube page and where I binge watched her videos on the subject. I think we’re similar size and have kind of the same body shape so I got some inspiration from her. I wish she did more of those videos now as they helped me a lot to realize I could do it myself.
Curvy Girl Chic – I stumbled upon Allison from an online magazine roundup of plus size bloggers. She was one of the first I followed and I take inspiration from her outfits. I feel like we have similar styles and I always look forward to her posts and what she puts up.
Plump PH – I discovered the twins at an event back in 2014. I met them there and they had a talk on body positivity and that opened my eyes. They were my first encounter with this sort of thing and the way they talked so passionately about the topic really helped me. I look up to these two as they know the struggle being in a country where it isn’t so common to be bigger and being judged for our size. The event I met them at and where I talk a little about it here.
Sassy Red Lipstick – Last blogger that I have been loving and taking inspiration from was Sarah. I discovered her from liking my Instagram pictures and decided to look into her account. I found so many posts on her blog about the subject and she was one of the girls who inspired me to wear my swimsuit out on the beach and in public. I love her outfits and think we have similar styles as well so I love that I stumbled upon her and get to take some outfit inspiration from her.
Tess Holiday & Ashley Graham – These two ladies have been a recent inspiration for me. Of course many heard of them and they are plus size fashion models. I always wanted to be a model but I was always told I was too big and there weren’t that many growing up but now you have girls like these who are changing the game. It is so cool seeing them and they are such inspirations for me to be comfortable in my own skin.

This blog post was kind of inspired by my niece. She is turning 7 this year and is starting to grow up. She is starting to fill out and is not a stick thin pole anymore. She is at a healthy weight but people in my family have noticed this and have been teasing her and putting her down. They did that to me at that age and you don’t know how messed up it made me. I had bullying at school and at home too so it wasn’t the best. I was about her age when I started putting on weight after being so skinny. I took her aside and told her to come to me. I told her that it’s normal and it is up to you if you want to lose weight if you wanted. I told her I will be there. I wish I had someone like that growing up and I hope I am there for her. That is why I wanted to do this post as well. If you would like me to go into detail about a topic like this then please let me know.
| swimsuit: Float Swim, shorts: Forever 21+ {similar},
flip flops: American Eagle, bow: Forever 21, pool float: Toy Kingdom {similar} |
On a more lighter side I wanted to show you what I wore to our family reunion which as you can tell was a pool party. I had a reason to throw on this swimsuit again. I thought I was putting it away for the year but I guess not. I think I’m planning on getting the wine red and forest green one as well since I love this blush pink one so much. I got so much use out of this so I might get me the two other colors as well. I paired it with this ruffle black shorts that I am always obsessed with and they are a go to swimming short if you have been following me a while I’m always wearing them to the pool as they are the right length for that. Then I had some hot pink flip flops and a blush pink bow to match the swimsuit. Last is my cupcake pool float which went so well with the outfit. Sadly my rowdy cousins got to it after I got done taking pictures and ended up popping it so I couldn’t lounge in the pool with it but maybe next summer I’ll buy a good quality one and get my use out of it. I felt like a proper mermaid with this outfit with the ruffles from the swimsuit and on the hem of the shorts so I felt so swishy. I did have a fun family day and all the family came together at a pool resort and went swimming, had so much food and we sang karaoke all evening. I took over the mic the whole night and did a full on performance in this outfit to Little Mix Hair and knew the whole dance. I felt like a proper member and really gave it my all which was so fun getting to perform in front of my family. If there was a contest I bet I would have won because look at this outfit and my dancing was on point but my singing skills are questionable. I can’t believe those girls can sing and dance hardcore like that as I was out of breath by the chorus. It was fun though and I felt like a proper pop star that night.
That is it for this inspiring blog post. I hope I got my point across and wanted to give a shout out to those who influenced me to be more body positive myself. I wanted to give some of my own tips as well and tell you a little story about what inspired this post. So that is it and please let me know if you want to see more of this topic and what else you would like me to cover. I better be going since I am a bit ill at the moment with a nasty cold. I don’t have a voice much right now (good thing I can still type instead) and I can’t breath through my nose which I hate the most about being sick. I still wanted to get this post up and I have a few things to do on my to do list for the week. So I best be getting to those before I go rest. I hope you’re having a better start to the week than me. Have a fab Monday lovelies!
What are your inspirations for body positivity and who do you look up to?

I can relate to your struggles, because I've struggled with my weight for years too. It's really harsh out here for anyone who doesn't weigh less than 130 pounds. But you know what? Confidence is all you need to be beautiful. Rock on and stay confident!
I totally agree with Nelu on this one. I also struggle with my weight. But loving yourself, being confident and finding your own happiness is really important! keep it up lovely!
Swimsuits are so hard to find, especially ones that are comfy and look good, and girl, you NAILED it!
My inspiration for my body to remain healthy through each transition of life. I have way too much I want to see and accomplish. Loving myself will help my pursuit on this new journey I am taking. Thank you for the inspiration!
I think more young women need to see posts like yours and learn that all body types are acceptable. I'm glad Ashley Graham is out there. But I wish it was more than just her. Great post!
