Some of my favorite things in 2015
Happy Friday! I thought instead of doing a monthly favorites for December/January I would do a year end special as well and show all my favorite beauty products I loved in 2015. I have been enjoying reading these lately and never actually done one so I thought now is the chance and share mine as well. I just rounded up the products that I loved or either I picked a few from each month in my monthly favorites. If they stood out enough and I also grabbed them because I knew they were the ones always being used so that’s how I finally narrowed it down to create my top 15 so I’ll show you my choices now.
Best in Makeup
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Medium Plus
I have to give the best face powder that kept me matte and left me shine free has to go to the MAC Skinfinsh in Medium Plus. If I don’t want foundation or if I want this to go over foundation it can go both ways. it lessens my pores and can be a great cover up or setting everything through the day. It has great staying power and one swipe can go a long ways. it definitely is a nice powder.
Sleek Contour Palette in Medium
I’ll have to give the best contour palette to Sleek in medium. This was the bronzer and highlighter I learned to contour with and I now now how to blend it easily and how to work it. It is the perfect shade for my skin tone and doesn’t leave it orange or muddy. The highlight gives a faint glow and I really liked that at the time because I didn’t know about the whole glowy highlight thing so this just gave a nice effect without being too shimmery. I think I will always go back to this even though I get new bronzers because it was that good.
Covergirl Cheekers Blush in 105 Rose Silk
The blush I went with and the best color goes to the Covergirl Cheekers in Rose Silk. With all the blushes I now own this had to be the one I most applied and if I was not really into trying something from my stash this was the go to. It is a pretty color and it can be used for the spring/summer season or it can be built up for the autumn/winter. It was overall a great blush and great color to swipe over my cheeks to bring back some color.
MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Undressed
The eye shadow palette of the year has to go to the MUA Undressed Palette. For 2015 I decided to play with some neutral looks and after doing so many colored looks for makeup class I decided to branch out on my own and just play with makeup. I loved this for trying all kinds of different eye looks and it had a great color selection for a lot of different looks either for everyday or going out as well. It was a go to grab palette in my collection from 2015.
Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara
The overall best mascara by far I have used in 2015 was Roller Lash by Benefit. I don’t have any bad things to say about this because I really liked it. I saw why it was so hyped up and usually that gets me curious and glad it did wonders on me. it lifts my ashes and keeps them curled so they are nice and full which I didn’t know they could do that. It didn’t clump and stayed all day on me with no ugly black marks. That passed my standards and thus becoming my fave mascara at the moment and of the year.
K-Palette 1 Day Magic Liquid Eyeliner
The eyeliner of the year goes to the K-Palette Liquid Eyeliner. This did wonders and made me learn how to d a flick that looked somewhat decent and like a cat eye. I was trying to get into the wing liner look for 2015 so when this came in a beauty subscription box it was the perfect one to help me practice. It is just like a felt tip pen so it made drawing lines so easily and was super pigmented. It definitely wins the best award because it takes a lot to get perfect liner on me.
MAC Lipstick in Please Me
Lastly, the best lipstick and my most worn one of the year goes to Mac Please Me. It was my first MAC lipstick so of course I had to chose it. If you see any of my pictures without a label of what lipstick I am wearing I bet you it was this one. It is the perfect pink shade and great for everyday. I could build it up to create a full pink effect or lightly dab it on for a nice nudey pink my lips but nicer shade. it is matte and I think I am liking matte. It was a no brainer choosing this as my lipstick of the year.
Best in Skincare & Body
Bifesta Cleansing Lotion in Sebum
By far the best makeup remover is the Bifesta Cleansing lotion in the Sebum variant. So to take all that makeup off that I applied I need a great remover. I got this after it was demoed on me at a BDJ Beauty Social and I was convinced I guess and a month later went out and bought a full size. I got it in the Sebum version but they have others which is always handy. It does amazing at taking my makeup off and leaves my face feeling moisturized. It impressed me and I think so because the bottle is half way gone so it must say something.
Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel
The face wash I loved the most has to go to the Pond’s Pearl Cleansing Gel.So after taking all that makeup off with the remover I then proceed to wash my face with this. I got this at the Pond’s event and tried it out and turns out I really like it. It is gentle and though it has tiny gel beads it doesn’t feel rough or anything but is a very thick gel that really cleans my face and leaves it so smooth I can’t help but want to rub my face afterwards. I still love my facial scrub for deep exfoliation but this is my daily face ash to get my face clean. It came later in the year but i still have to give it the spot because it really is a great facial wash.
Soap & Glory Scrub ‘Em & Leave “Em Body Buff
The body scrub of the year goes to the Soap & Glory Body Buff and it is great at taking off and exfoliating the rest of my body. I love scrubs more than washes lately because it has been a little bit stickier because the humid weather mixing with the cold days does not mix well. It leaves my skin soft and doesn’t leave bits in the shower so a win-win.
Canmake Body Cream in Pink Grapefruit
The body lotion goes to the body cream by Canmake in grapefruit. After a good exfoliation in the shower this comes after and I just love this because it is thick and the scent is amazing. I got used to its strong flavor but nt I smell of this sweet citrus and it comforts me I guess. It is pretty much the only one I use so it gets the award for best body lotion.
Best in Hair & Nails
Human Nature 100% Clarifying Shampoo
The best clarifying shampoo that I was obsessed wit and used throughout 2015 goes to Human Nature Clarifying Shampoo. I use this every week and it gets all the pollution in the air and dirt and stuff out because of how bad the air is here. It needs a deep clean and at first I didn’t know what this was but then I read about it in some blogs. The one I read about didn’t have the brand but I saw this while at drug store and it was perfect since it had no chemicals or anything because I was trying to keep my hair somewhat healthy and not use to much bad stuff on it. It turned out it was just what I needed and leaves it super clean. I use a good conditioner on it afterwards and I am left with super soft hair. It is definitely the shampoo of the year.
Monea Curl Defining Milk Hair Lotion
The best hair product and one that tamed my curls for 2015 goes to the Monea Curl Defying Milk.I got introduced this by my cousin’s hairdresser and she said I had pretty curls but they should have some extra care so she applied it to my hair and I immediately saw the difference so she wrote it down for me and I went out and bought it and it was pretty cheap as well so a great bonus. it is just a thick cream I put in my hair before I curl it and it makes the stay and just smooths them down. I didn’t know I would like it as much as I do and it can really moisturize my dry hair.
Pantene Silky Smooth Care Miracle Water
For me the best styling product is the Pantene Smooth Miracle water that smoothed my hairstyles and left my hair shiny in 2015.I include this even if I had another hair product but I just couldn’t pass it up because it was good at keeping my baby hairs down. It gets so humid and my hair frizzes almost immediately especially in the summer so a quick run through my hair with this and it can minimize that. It isn’t oil based either but water so it doesn’t leave my hair greasy so I have to give this an award for keeping my curls happy.
Orly Nail Polish in Swizzle Stick
The nail polish and color of the year for me has to be Swizzle Stick by Orly. This is my favorite color so it doesn’t surprise me I would pick this. I just adore the color and it was very bright and perfect for the summer but I wore this for literally months at a time. I would either use this on my hands on my toes and it made my pedicure much more happier especially dancing in ballet and tap shoes so this was a bright bonus after removing my shoes. It is perfect and went on nice and opaque which is always nice. For me I would reign this as my color of the year.
I guess mostly my favorites were makeup but since I was finishing up makeup class the beginning of the year and then going on to trying and doing my makeup more got me to have more favorites from there. I think I would like to try new hair products this year. I really am curious of what this year’s will look like and if there will be anymore coming back into the top for the next one.
Those were 15 of my best beauty products for 2015. Maybe this year I can do my 16 favorites. I hope you enjoyed seeing my top 15 and let me know if any of these is in yours or I made you want to try something because that’s what convinces me. So I guess this was fun to do but I will be back with my monthly favorites either the beginning of next month or the end of it.
