5 Favorite YA Books
Happy Blogmas Day 8! The thing I love in December when it is nice and cozy and it’s just a relaxing time and all you want to do is read books at night. I am such a bookworm and don’t know if I have shared that on here but I am. I also thought to share more lifestyle posts on here and show you 5 young adult books that I loved reading. I don’t know if it is my top five of all time favorites but they are some books that I just absolutely love and thought I’d share. So here’s today’s blogmas post featuring some books maybe you read or will add to your to read list.
The first is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and I read this in one night and felt all the giddy feelings and the butterflies. I felt like I was in the story and thought I was the main character. It is just one of those reads where you get hooked and keep going until the end and when it did end I felt so sad the story was over. I know I loved the book when I have that feeling. It is also one of the only books on my good reads that has 5 stars. I usually rate fairly harshly and my highest will always be a 4 but this just made me give it that extra star for some reason. It is a lovely and if you haven’t read it and like those cheesy gooey reds than this will be great. The whole series is amazing to be honest but the first just stuck out the best for me and I relate to it the best. I think this will always be in my favorites no matter what because it was just that good to me. It may not be for others but for me I did have a great time reading it.
The second on the list is If I Stay by Gayle Forman and I love the book and I loved the movie but I won’t talk about the movie in this one. I only read this because it was like The Fault in Our Stars and I guess I was curious. I hate to admit it but I liked it more and the book made me cry more than TFIOS. I just loved it and it was the first book that has made me cry in a while. I am very emotional and can cry at a lot of things (especially dog related things) but this just got to me. I love how it is written and the story is just amazing and the message it sends as well. I also have a thing for musicians in books, movies even TV shows so that really ticked my interest as well. It was a great read and I read it i a day as well. I did read the sequel which is okay but I love the first one the best and again this will still be in my top faves as well.
For the third I picked Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover because again it was just a read that was so lovely. I loved the story and it is just so unique. Remember I said I had a thing for musicians in stories well this one has one as well. It is so powerful and has a great message. I found the characters so real and you can really feel how they feel. I love that about them and it is so moving and had a great ending which of course I won’t give away the ending but it made me so happy and another book I need to read all the way through again when I have time.
The fourth one is Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt and the story again is something so unique. It takes place all in one night and falls a high school couple from two different social standings. It is so relateable and a really cute read. I have read this recently so it was the best thing I’ve read so far this year. It is just one of those fluffy and quick reads and is so fun if you want something quick and is light than this was great especially since it was one of my favorite reads in the evenings.
Lastly the fifth one is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and it is probably a book a lot of people know about and I see why it is so popular. I love this story because it is so likeable and I relate so much to th main character. I also wrote letters to guys I liked and I didn’t hide them in a shoe box and them go out but I did like writing notes and letters to boys and look back on to see how happy they made me. I told you early on I loved writing so this story made me remember I did the same. I don’t have those letter now unfortunately and maybe they are in boxes I left in the US but someday I hope to read the non-sense I got up to. I loved both the first and the recent sequel and just love the light and fun read it is as well.
Some runner-ups that I will quickly add as I just couldn’t seem to settle on five is anything by Rainbow Rowell as I know she is quite popular to. I love her books and wanted to add Fangirl at the end of this but I went over five and was sad but it deserved a mention because again I relate to it so much as well. Next runner up is anything by Jennifer E. Smith as I think I’ve read all of her books and love them all. The latest one I read was Hello, Goodbye, I Love You and again so nice and love the style of her writing. Those were a few runner ups because I had to.
As you can see I think I have a fave type of book and they are the ones that leave me happy and I remember. I like feeling giddy afterwards and want to be hungover. Those are the ones that catch my heart and I am willing to read them over and over again. I maybe cheesy but they do stick with me the longest and that’s what gets me hooked on this genre. I want to feel like I fell in love and I know I shouldn’t believe in these because they hardly come true but I guess the hopeless romantic in me wants it to happen to me. I want that happily ever after ending and the book romance and maybe that’s why I read these. I am logical as well and know it is far from reality but that’s what gets me to escape. It may not happen with me and I accept that but there is tiny bits of hope after reading this and that’s the feeling I get high off of. I hope you get what I’m saying but it’s hard to describe why I like these but so far these are the five that really stuck out with me and I do love the authors who wrote these and it inspires me to write something as powerful as that and maybe that’s the reason I write. I should stop that seems like along ramble of a paragraph.
Let me know if you’d like more posts in this style. I’d like to break up some of the fashion and beauty content with some of my other things I love like books and music some time in between. Also I’d love to know what is your fave book at the moment and what genre you prefer. I really like Young Adult and I don’t think I will get tired of it. I’d love to know more recommendations to finish up my reading list of the year for 2015. That’s all for today’s blogmas post. Only 17 days!
