Twenty-Two
Hi everyone! Yesterday was April 19 which if you didn’t know was my birthday! I turned 22 and yes I know I have been singing the song all day despite my family getting sick and tired of it and me getting tired of explaining it was my theme song since I was 22. I went out to the mall with my dad since I wanted to spend it doing something even though we are planning a family vacation the first of next month and wasn’t really intentionally going to celebrate on the actual day but we ended up having a day out.
So I bring you snapshots of my day from my DSLR or through my iPad and Instagram. Now I recap my birthday and what I did throughout the day.
This was taken exactly 20 years ago. So meaning it was taken in 1995 and it seems not so long ago yet it’s been 2 decades. Time has flown by and I wonder what it’s like for my parents to realize that was 20 years ago and that I’m all grown up. It’s mind blowing for me so what is it like for them. My dad the other day found this picture and I realized I wanted to do one of those recreating pictures I’ve seen and since I had a floral dress, white tights from ballet lass and white shoes that it would be perfect. even back then I loved me my florals to wear. Now my Photoshopping skills weren’t that great since I only do basic photo editing and I have a slight knowledge with Illustrator so I combined it and made this. It was quite hard and it isn’t quite perfect but I’m liking how it turned out and I will hopefully improve. hope you liked it and my dad really thought it was the coolest thing ever.
My outfit for the day was nothing new. I was saving my actual birthday dress for another celebration coming up because of course you don’t have just one celebration for your birthday. I wore this dress before so if you want to see this in a full outfit and how I styled it here.
A tradition I had since I was a year old was on my birthday I would get balloons and until now I love balloons and whoever birthday it is and there are balloons I will take one home. If you see my room it is filled with balloons and my 18 month god son loves my room because of it. So I got Disney Princess balloons and a Hello Kitty balloon and yes I am 22. Yay for balloons!
Hanging out with my dad for a daddy-daughter date on my birthday. It was fun sending time with him. I have a great relationship with him if you couldn’t tell.
A highlight of the trip was getting my brows done at Benefit. I tweeted and asked if they still did brow waxing free on your birthday and they did and the lady I always go to did mine. It was my first time getting them waxed and it was surprising but didn’t really hurt like I expected. I might do a blog post about my experience since I got pictures.
Birthday dinner! So one of my fave things to eat at when I was little was Burger King and so my dad and I went there since I wanted it. I got a chicken burger and some onion rings with an apply juice as it is my favorite and I go there sometimes just for that. And you know I asked them for a crown because it was my birthday!
To wrap up my mall celebration I went to Vanilla Cupcake Bakery to buy myself a birthday cupcake! I got a peanut butter cupcake since I wanted something different from last time. It comes in this cute little pink box to take home in and a little sticker on I and again I took advantage and asked for a sticker. The place is always so fun to take pictures in so I have quite a lot pictures. If you want to see a ful post about my cupcake experience than you can read that here.
Now for the real celebration. When we got home I had a surprise birthday party waiting for me! I didn’t know and I thought the mall celebration was it but I had my family waiting for me with more balloons and birthday bunting with my name on the wall and then some cake and food. It was really nice and I couldn’t believe they did this for me.
Me in our kitchen with the little set up. The cooked Carbonara for me because as a Filipino tradition you have to have noodles for your birthday because they believe in long life so when ever you see a birthday celebration I blogged about in the past there is a noodle dish. Sometimes it is Pancit a Filipino noodle dish like chow mein or mainly it is spaghetti as ids love it or pretty much any noodle dish is served. If you ever went to a Filipino party or no anyone than you may know about it. My cousin cooked and it was really yummy.
My birthday cake! I got this pretty pink and purple cake and they choose a pretty one and knew exactly what I wanted. It was a custom cake from a local bakery Red Ribbon where we always get our cakes from and I love them and they are so yummy and pretty. Lynn my cousin actually got it custom because they added bows on i and they had to pint it out because I seriously thought it was a butterfly. I mean doesn’t it but it actually is a bow. I called it the butterfly bow cake in the end. Also having the “Ate” in front of my name means a sign of respect since I’m older in the Philippines and it isn’t actually my name.
That has been my birthday recap and just part one of my celebration. We are planning on having a pool part on Tuesday and then a family vacation with ll of us next month. I really enjoyed my day and after a few terrible birthdays I had in the past this makes up for it that’s why I wanted to do a little blog post about it to have it as a memory. I enjoyed doing this and doing that 20 years later picture. Overall it was a lovely day. I hope you enjoyed my little birthday post and thanks for the greetings on twitter and Instagram!
