Happy Monday! I'm back with another review of a nail polish that I recently tried and was the base color of my Valentine's Day nails from last week which you can go back to look at here. Hot pink will always be one of my favorite nail colors. I can even wear it all year round if I really want to. If I am stuck on what color I always go for this kind of color. Some might think it is too bold and bright but something about this color makes me happy so seeing it on my nails everyday just reminds me to be happy since it is my favorite color. I've never tried a matte pink nail before. I've dabbled in it when the matte top coat came out but never fully got into it. This however is the first matte polish I own and I think it is a really cool idea. So here are my thoughts on this matte pink polish from BYS.
ColorThe color is as I said my favorite. It is this bright and very florescent color which is a very neon pink too. It certainly can be seen from quite away and can be intimidating if your not into that. It is the same color as the bottle which is really great so you get the same color payoff and not being lied to which I have come across polishes like that before. I kind of was expecting it to be quite muted and not so bright but I like the effect though instead.
ApplicationIt applies quite well and very opaque as it is a darker color. I feel like it can be done in just two coats and be done with but as always I love having three thin coats and it usually satisfies the look I like. In between each coat it does dry matte and very quickly I might add which I like. I don't know it if is only matte polishes but this one dried very quickly which is amazing and very time saving. It wasn't streaky but it is quite thin. I usually apply thin layers in the first place but this is not a thick polish which I kind of like and kind of don't. It has benefits of drying easily but it can flake off as well for being so thin.

This is three coats and has a nice flat matte finish. It was taken in natural light right after application.
WearTo be honest it didn't last as long as the last BYS nail polish but I think I determined it's because I didn't use a top coat. I didn't use a top coat because I didn't have a matte top coat and if I used my regular one than what is the purpose for a matte nail polish. It did last about almost 3 days which I thought could go longer but it started chipping and maybe because it didn't have protection so it did that. I think to solve it I would have to apply a clear matte top coat and test it out that way to see the results. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary to make it chip but it is quite a thin polish. I did try it again as a base color and added more polish o top and it still chipped from the design so I think it is this polish and really needs a top coat to get the best results. I'm not complaining as it can be fixed quite easily, has a reasonable price and great color payoff so if you have a matte top coat than I would recommend this polish again.
That's it for another mani Monday and I am loving the bold and bright colors. I'm so happy because summer is coming up here so I am glad to be bringing out any bright shades. I think this was a nice thing to try and it got me into the matte trend. I do enjoy the matte lip at the moment and now can express it on my nails now too. I am going to pick up a matte top coat and maybe after that buy more colors. I do have a review and what I though of another BYS nail polish in the regular line if you want to read that here. So I hope you enjoyed this and let me know what do you think of matte nail polishes and have you tried one.
